The NHACPM is a professional association of public sector managers and supervisors.  To be eligible as an active member, an individual must have earned the designation of Certified Public Manager (CPM) or Certified Public Supervisor (CPS) through a management program accredited by the National Certified Public Manager Consortium.

Certification is granted after satisfactory completion of an extensive program of classroom training, study, research, examinations; and demonstration of those abilities through completion of individual or team projects.

Other categories of membership include: Associate members (individuals currently enrolled in a CPS or CPM program.)  Affiliate Members (individuals who actively support the CPS or CPM program, such as mentors, program instructors, CPM advisory board members) and Honorary members (individuals elected by the NHACPM board.)
